Artist's Comments

I painted this a in February for the Furry Fiesta art show, and have just now finally gotten a successful photo of it (well, as successful as you can get with your phone).

I painted this in 5 days, and this is the first time I felt "fluent" with acrylics. A big part was that my boyfriend gave me a gift card and insisted I bought something other than beginner's paints- and then the salesman told me to never use black to darken, which I hadn't known before. It certainly paid off, both the paints and the advice.

20x30 inches, Acrylics on watercolor board.
For perspective...the knight is between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch.
For sale if interested.

Don't you wish that life was as simple as fish swimming 'round in a barrel when you've got the gun?

If your not supposed to use black to darken what are you supposed to do pray tell? I've just always used cheap on sale paints and black to darken ^^;

Why...?

We were always taught to use the color opposite the original on the color wheel, but just small amounts. Red-green, blue-orange, purple-yellow. If you use too much it makes that ugly nasty color, but if you only use tiiiiiny bits at a time it seems to work alright. I don't paint often, but when I do I use that system.
